This is a really simple guide to planting a succulent within a terrarium. It’s super easy and if you don’t have a terrarium, simply use an alternative such as a round terracotta plant pot or a fish bowl.

What you’ll need:

  • Terrarium or alternative
  • Fish tank gravel
  • Pebbles
  • Succulent
  • Cactus soil – don’t use ordinary compost as succulents are not designed to grow under the same conditions.

  1. Lay a small amount of pebbles over the base of the terrarium – this allows for drainage.
  2. Sprinkle some extra cactus soil in the middle of the base and stand the succulent in place
  3. Scatter the gravel over the top of the soil – for the terrarium pictured, I also built the gravel up around the sides to hide the soil.

Happy potting!
