I tend to use Airbnb quite a lot when travelling because a) they’re (often) cheaper than a hotel, b) they’re a little home from home and c) it gives you access to some really unique places with individuality and authentic character… enter this awesome find!
La Corticella – Terrace Apartment is centrally located in a quiet courtyard and by central, I mean a street away from the main town square Piazza delle Erbe and a 5 minute walk away from the Colosseum. Pretty perfect spot to be honest!
Guilia (the host) wasn’t around for our arrival but a lovely lady called Anna met us at the City gate and made us feel really welcome.
The apartment is huge and spans two floors across the most beautiful oak flooring. It has an incredibly cool interior too – come on, who wouldn’t want a vintage TV bedside table and have you seen THAT ceiling?  The combination of sassy, retro furniture throughout is flawless; it’s clear that a lot of time and love has gone into the overall design – talk about interior inspo!
The ultimate bonus of this apartment though has to be the private courtyard garden, which is so peaceful it’s hard to believe you’re right in the thick of it. We spent both mornings out there sippin’ coffee but it would make a great place to enjoy a quiet evening in, with wine of course.
A lovely added touch was a book written and illustrated by the Guilia, full of recommendations about what to do in the city, where to eat (depending on budget/occasion) and lots of other useful information. Another great thing about AirBnB is that the hosts tend to know the city inside out and can offer recommendations for hot spots that you’d otherwise probably miss out on.
