Oh, hey December. Tis finally the season for sequins, mulled wine and all around merriness and I am so ready for it. It’s my all-time favourite month of the year. I love dancing the night away at the many Christmas parties, spending some extra time with friends and family, indulging in an obscene amount of chocolate orange and of course, all of the Christmas shopping.
For me, nothing kicks off the festivities quite like a weekend away. Whether it’s enjoying the dazzling lights of London’s Carnaby Street or Berlin’s festive feels, I’ve compiled some of my favourite Christmas-time getaways for you below.
Whether you’re after live music, indulgent food or a heck load of retail therapy, London has your back:
Shopping along Oxford St and Covent Garden – if not to just to stare bright-eyed at the incredible lights and decorations.
Check out Carnaby Street’s always on point Christmas lights.
Ice skating at Somerset House or the oh so beautiful Natural History Museum.
Marvel at the View from The Shard – what better way to see London than from above, with a glass of Prosecco, or two?
Visit the West End; the new School of Rock is now playing at the New London Theatre.
Paris is tres amazing at any time of year but I imagine Christmas would be wonderful under the twinkling Eiffel Tower. Beyond the City though, I can’t think of anything more magical than Christmas at DISNEY LAND. Such a magical experience and the festivities on the lake are always ever so wonderful.
Where better to experience a German Christmas market than Germany’s Capital? I visited Berlin last November and it certainly lived up to the hype. My must do’s in the Capital would have to be:
You can read my full guide to Berlin here.
I’ve never been but New York remains top of my bucket list, and I can’t imagine a better time to make the trip than Christmas?! Who wouldn’t want to do a Kevin McCallister and escape to The Big Apple for the festive season. A to do list would have to consist of:
Visit THE TREE at Rockefeller Centre.
Get your ice skates on at Central Park.
Enjoy a show on Broadway.
Enjoy a serious dose of retail therapy and a chance to get some last minute Christmas gifts.
